Hihifo frozen cocoyams are grown in natural conditions, in the Kingdom of Tonga. Cocoyams are most commonly grown for its starchy edible roots. They are grown for the corms which are consumed after boiling, roasting and frying. Cocoyams can be sliced and fried to make chips or dried and made into flour. They are a common ingredient in soups and stews, or they may be grilled or pureed. Cocoyams are excellent source of fibre, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals. A versatile staple, cocoyam can also be used as weaning food, while the leaves can be cooked as vegetable.
